Chapter 32
The day after the parade
Gus's phone rang early in the morning.
"Hello Gus, this is
Sally, I saw you in the parade yesterday morning."
"Well hello."
"Gus, I need to talk
to you in person. Is there some place we can meet near you in Sedona, maybe
tomorrow afternoon?
"Sure. How about the
Red Bell Inn for coffee at about 3:00 tomorrow afternoon? I have some errands
to run first," replied Gus.
"Fine, I will see you
there."
Sally had two reasons
to call Gus. First she wanted to conquer her fear of horses and ride again,
especially since she had witnessed the courage of Maurice Johnson, the
blind rider.
Next, she recognized
the blind rider in the parade as the man she met at the Poets' Gathering.
She wanted to see and talk with this unusual man again. However, she still
did not know Maurice Johnson was the Ream Johnson she had become so attached
to over the phone.
